It has a domestic consumption of over 156000MT with nearly 95% of the production constituted in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Due to their dry characteristic, raisins are rich in vitamins, minerals, polyphenol antioxidants and healthy sugar. It is due to this that raisins are considered to be a healthy alternative to sugar. The health benefits of raisins include relief from acidity, help in digestion, help prevent cancer as well as treat Anaemia. Raisins in India are either consumed raw or used in cooking, bakery and confectionary industry.
